Libertarian Campaign From Massachusetts

Robert Underwood for State Representative

I am Robert Underwood, Libertarian candidate for the Ninth Hampden House District in Massachusetts. The district is roughly East Springfield. I am a member of the Pioneer Valley Libertarian Assocation, Libertarian group in Western Massachsuetts, as well as Liberty for Massachusetts. As far as I know I am the only Libertarian candidate for the House of Representatives in Massachusetts. My campaign can be found at
www.libertyforamerica.com/wmlp/candidates/Underwood/rep_en/rep_en.htm.
The Libertarian Party has lost its major party status in Massachusetts, that mean I could get 150 signatures of any registered voter to get on the ballot. Had we had major party status I could only get signatures from Libertarians ( 4 in the district ), and un-enrolled voters, which would have made getting 150 signatures more difficult.
We have complicated financial reporting requirements in Massachusetts. Since I do not have enough people to help me with that, I ask people to take out ads in papers on their own..
The last time I checked my campaign had 400 hits a month in English, and about 200 in Spanish. There are many people from Puerto Rico in my district, and PVLA’s web site appears in Spanish also. 95% of my signatures were from Puerto Rican Democrats. I am addressing down to earth issues, like excise taxes and fees, as well as civil liberties.
Last year, in my run for the city council I got about 4000 votes, 850 of them in my house district. I am hoping to build upon this. This time it will be a 3 way race between a Democrat, an un-enrolled ( really a closet Republican ) and me.
Since I have very little money, my strategy is to go door to door with a lip of paper raftering people to our URL. Today just about everyone has a computer. So I have until November 2 to knock on doors.
